A Wedding at The Bowery Hotel

Blair and Drew got married at St. Luke In The Fields, just a few blocks from their apartment in the West Village followed by a beautiful and raucous wedding reception at the Bowery Hotel

A Year in Newspaper Assignments

In addition to the amazing weddings I had the opportunity to photograph in 2016 it was also a year filled with newspaper assignments. These assignments run the gamut from big political events to local stories on homeless shelter to restaurant reviews. Here is just a small sample of the past year.

Brides and supermoon

Brides magazine featured Andrew and Phil's wedding in their latest issue (August/September). I photographed their wedding at Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers in September of last year and it was a fantastic event I'll never forget. Even the moon celebrated by giving us a spectacular show during the rare supermoon lunar eclipse.

a wedding in the woods

After having spoken to Lucia on the phone about her wedding in the Berkshires outside Albany I immediately realized that her and Evan were planning something unique and extraordinary. The intimacy of having a wedding on her parent's property in the woods really appealed to me and when the day finally arrived I was touched by all the effort and work that her friends, family and neighbors poured into making the day unforgettable.
The festivities started the evening before with a big Hawaiian pig roast and cookout prepared by a friend of Lucia and Evan's that continued well after the sun came down.
The wedding day started with preparations of setting up the ceremony site with hay bales and decorating the reception in the woods with handmade signs and antique furniture. Pretty soon Lucia had her dress on and Travis came over for an emotion first look and a quick portrait session around the property. As the guests arrived they were greeted with cocktails and amazing hors d'oeuvres before taking their seat for the ceremony to begin. The officiant was also a friend of the couple which made the ceremony that more personal and intimate.
After the ceremony the guests made their way to the reception which took place in a clearing in the woods. Before the dinner, the wedding party had a series of heartfelt toasts. After nightfall the dancing started and didn't stop until the wee hours in the morning and commenced with a bonfire and s'mores.
After the wedding I felt that I as a photographer had made friends with everyone and I was touched by the warmth, romance and joy that permeated the weekend. I drove back to NYC wishing the wedding festivities had lasted all week.
